Development Engineer — High?Impact Automation & Robotics Design Role
This role puts you at the center of designing and developing advanced robotic 7th?axis rail systems and custom robotic dress solutions. You’ll own mechanical and controls design that directly shapes product performance, customer satisfaction, and profitability. If you love building automation hardware that actually gets used on real factory floors, this is the kind of engineering job people
want to brag about.
What You’ll Do
- Design and engineer new linear rail products and robotic add?ons.
- Prototype, test, and validate rail systems, components, lube systems, cable carriers, and cabling.
- Create 3D models and drawings for rail systems, bulkheads, and controller interface packages.
- Lead design reviews and uphold ISO?level accuracy.
- Support integrators and line builders bringing new robotic applications online.
- Troubleshoot failures and present clear root?cause and corrective actions.
- Deliver technical presentations for internal teams and customers.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering standards and cost?efficient design.
What Makes This Role Exciting
- You get to own real hardware—from concept to testing to customer deployment.
- You’ll work across mechanical, electrical, and controls, making this a playground for multi?discipline engineers.
- Your designs directly impact automation reliability, speed, and performance on production floors.
- You’ll collaborate with integrators, customers, and internal teams—no isolated cubicle engineering.
- You’ll see your work installed, running, and solving problems in manufacturing environments.
What You Bring
- Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics) or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years in industrial automation design with CAD.
- SolidWorks + AutoCAD proficiency.
- Ability to read/create electrical interface drawings and mechanical prints.
- Experience with linear axis design, drive sizing, FEA, DFM, GD&T.
- Strong communication, problem?solving, and teamwork skills.
Bonus Points
- Robotics integration experience.
- Linear bearing specification knowledge.
Work Environment
Mostly desk?based design work with periodic time on manufacturing floors—walking, standing, and hands?on testing. Occasional travel (5–10%) during critical project phases.
