Job Description
Key responsibilities for an Automation Support Engineer:

Troubleshoot & Support

Diagnose and repair PLC programs and electrical systems—both remotely and in the field

Provide expert guidance to field techs and third-party contractors

Field & Program Optimization

Recommend and implement electrical design improvements

Update and properly archive control programs for future use

Customer & Case Management
-
Respond to service requests within 2 hours

Manage support cases from issue logging to resolution—communicating clearly throughout

Parts, Warranty & Quality Support

Coordinate work orders, warranty claims, and part replacements
-
Verify dealer work and initiate internal quality cases to ensure long-term fixes
-
Collaboration & Communication
-
Work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, sales, and service teams

Ensure safety standards and strong internal customer service are always maintained
Compensation
The starting pay range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000. Final compensation will depend on various factors including: skills, experience, and location.
Location
Candidates must be based in the United States, with a preference for those who can work out of one of our Superior facilities. Please note that this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Qualifications
-
A degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) — or 5+ years of proven, hands-on experience in automation and controls

Strong proficiency in PLC programming (Allen Bradley), drive systems (like ABB), and interpreting complex schematics

Solid grasp of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, including key concepts like power, torque, and flow

Experience diagnosing machine issues, optimizing performance, and integrating multi-system solutions

Excellent communicator and problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, team-driven environment

Willing and able to travel up to 10 weeks per year (80% internal / 20% external), supporting field teams when it matters most
