Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Machine Operator to join a leading medical device manufacturing team in Scarborough, Maine. This position is responsible for producing high-quality cardiovascular medical devices by operating manufacturing equipment and performing precision assembly in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment.
The ideal candidate will have previous machine operating experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work with small components while following strict manufacturing and quality procedures. Depending on the assigned work area, this role may be performed in a controlled cleanroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate manufacturing equipment and machinery following documented work instructions.
- Assemble cardiovascular medical devices and related components.
- Perform precision assembly using hand tools and specialized equipment.
- Conduct visual inspections and precision measurements to verify product quality.
- Operate computerized testing equipment to test finished products.
- Repair or rework components using microscopes and precision tools as needed.
- Package finished devices while ensuring accuracy and complete documentation.
- Maintain accurate production records, travelers, and quality documentation to ensure product traceability.
- Clean tools and equipment according to established procedures.
- Properly dispose of hazardous waste in designated areas.
- Follow all safety regulations and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Participate in continuous improvement and quality initiatives.
- Notify supervisors of equipment issues, production concerns, or material shortages.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of machine operator experience required.
- Experience in manufacturing or production environments preferred.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow English written work instructions.
- Basic math skills.
- Strong verbal communication skills in English.
- Comfortable using computer systems and electronic data collection software.
- Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling small components.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in any of the following is a plus:
- Medical device manufacturing
- Cleanroom environments
- Precision assembly
- Microscope work
- Mechanical or electronic assembly
- Adhesive bonding
- Soldering
- Packaging and quality inspection
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform repetitive hand movements throughout the shift.
- Ability to handle small, delicate components with precision.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to safely perform manufacturing tasks while following all safety procedures.
