The Marine Fire Alarm Service Technician III is a senior technical expert responsible for leading complex inspections, advanced troubleshooting, system commissioning, quality assurance, customer consultation, and technician development. This position serves as a subject matter expert and supports operational excellence throughout the organization.
The Technician III is expected to perform work safely, professionally, and in accordance with company standards, manufacturer requirements, and all applicable codes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead complex vessel inspections and service projects.
- Perform advanced diagnostics on integrated fire alarm systems.
- Commission and program complex fire alarm systems.
- Review inspection reports for technical accuracy.
- Serve as technical resource for difficult troubleshooting.
- Mentor and coach technicians.
- Conduct field quality audits.
- Support Operations with scheduling and project planning.
- Recommend process improvements.
- Deliver technical training.
- Support customer meetings regarding deficiencies and corrective actions.
- Assist leadership with continuous improvement initiatives.
- Independently inspect, test, and service marine fire alarm systems.
- Troubleshoot wiring, panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, and communication circuits.
- Program and configure fire alarm control panels when authorized.
- Perform annual inspections in accordance with NFPA 72, SOLAS, USCG, ABS, IMO, and manufacturer standards.
- Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare complete inspection reports for customer repair proposals.
- Coordinate directly with vessel personnel and customers.
- Support emergency service calls.
- Train and mentor Technician I & Technician II employees.
- Maintain truck inventory and specialized testing equipment.
- Assist with inspections, testing, maintenance, and repair of marine fire alarm systems.
- Inspect fire alarm control panels, smoke detectors, heat detectors, pull stations, horns, strobes, annunciators, batteries, and related devices.
- Perform preventive maintenance including cleaning, battery replacement, calibration, and functional testing.
- Assist with troubleshooting fire alarm system deficiencies under supervision.
- Complete inspection reports, service documentation, work orders, and customer documentation using company systems.
- Maintain company tools, testing equipment, inventory, and assigned vehicle.
- Follow all company safety policies and required PPE requirements.
- Participate in technical and safety training.
- Provide professional customer service while representing the company.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver's License
- TWIC Card
- Passport
- Ability to travel
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30
- Multiple manufacturer certifications
- NICET II or higher (preferred)
- Advanced programming certifications
- CPR/First Aid
- Train-the-Trainer (preferred)

Five or more years of progressively responsible experience servicing marine fire alarm systems.

Compensation
The anticipated compensation range for this position is $40-$55 per hour or , depending on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location. Compensation will be determined in accordance with applicable law and the Company's compensation practices.
