Valor Health Group is seeking a Psychiatrist (MD/DO) to perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations for U.S. veterans in the Wichita, KS area, including TBI, PTSD, and other applicable evaluations based on provider qualifications and program needs.
No Office? No Problem! Exam Location Available.
Valor has a per diem examination location available in Wichita, KS, allowing qualified providers to perform examinations without needing to maintain their own clinical office for this opportunity.
Already have an established practice? Psychiatrists with an appropriate office located within approximately 50 miles of Wichita may also perform examinations from their own location, subject to applicable program and site requirements.
These are one-time, evaluation-only examinations focused on providing objective medical assessments related to veterans' disability claims. There is no treatment, prescribing, ongoing patient management, or follow-up care.
This 1099 opportunity is ideal for Psychiatrists looking to supplement an existing practice, utilize open schedule availability, or add flexible evaluation work while making a meaningful impact in the veteran community.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough, objective C&P disability evaluations for U.S. veterans.
- Perform TBI, PTSD, and other applicable examinations based on provider qualifications and assigned examination type.
- Review relevant medical records and supporting documentation.
- Conduct clinical assessments according to established examination protocols.
- Complete required Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) and associated reports accurately and thoroughly.
- Provide objective, evidence-based medical findings based on the examination and available records.
- Complete examination documentation within required turnaround times.
- Maintain professional and respectful interactions with veterans throughout the examination process.
- Communicate with the Valor Health Group team regarding scheduling, documentation, and examination needs.
- Provide evaluation-only services with no treatment, prescribing, ongoing patient management, or follow-up care.
Qualifications
- MD or DO with appropriate education and training in Psychiatry.
- Active, unrestricted medical license in good standing.
- Board certification as applicable to program requirements.
- Must meet applicable examiner qualifications for the specific C&P examination types performed.
- Strong psychiatric assessment and medical documentation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to complete documentation accurately and efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and meet required documentation timelines.
- Previous C&P, disability evaluation, PTSD, or TBI assessment experience is preferred but not required, provided applicable program qualifications are met.

- Providers with an appropriate office within approximately 50 miles of Wichita may have the option to perform examinations from their own location

Compensation
Compensation is paid per completed examination and varies based on the type and complexity of the evaluation performed.
Most examinations are scheduled for approximately 45–60 minutes, depending on examination type and required documentation.
The approximate hourly earning rate is contingent upon the type of examination performed, documentation requirements, provider efficiency, and scheduled examination volume. Compensation is not a guaranteed hourly wage or salary.
