Position Summary
The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen. This role works closely with the dietary team to ensure residents receive meals that meet nutritional standards and individual dietary needs.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks according to planned menus.
- Follow recipes, portion guidelines, and special diet requirements.
- Maintain food quality, presentation, and proper serving temperatures.
- Practice safe food handling and sanitation procedures.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, work areas, and dining service items.
- Monitor food inventory and notify management of supply needs.
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
- Work as part of a team to provide excellent service to our residents.
Qualifications
- Previous cooking experience preferred (assisted living, long-term care, restaurant, or healthcare experience is a plus).
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Compassionate, dependable, and resident-focused.
- Food Handler's Permit or ServSafe Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
