Summary
This position is a key part of a team that supports individuals receiving support for chemical dependency, mental health, and offender rehabilitation. Due to program demographics, only male candidates will be considered for this role. Students in criminal justice, sociology, social work, or a related field are encouraged to apply. Primary responsibilities include the oversight of all aspects of New Life Center Genesis Program and the physical building. Major components of the role consist of Christian discipleship, faith-based recovery programming, guest oversight, coordination of care with Case Management staff, security and safety of guests, visitors and other staff, physical building operation, sanitation and safety, and volunteer management. Genesis Program Recovery Ministry Advocates will also be cross-trained in the Emergency Services Program Shelter Supervisor position.

Work in a spirit of cooperation and mutual assistance with staff, guests, and volunteers.
Administer alcohol breathalyzers and urinalysis drug screenings, conduct locker/room and clothing inspections, carry out appropriate action, and complete necessary paperwork and documentation.
Answer phones, direct visitors, check guests in/out, and document information, observations, and interactions in computer database.
Coordinate guest’s transportation needs with volunteers, maintain schedule, and on occasion, use company vehicle to transport guests to appointments and meetings.
Lead educational and spiritual groups and classes.
Help guests with homework.
Provide supportive feedback, valuable insight, and accountability to program guests.
Promote recovery through role modeling and sharing experiences, provide hope and encouragement and connection to the community and overall wellness.
Ensure proper implementation and use of New Life Center policies and operational procedures.
Maintain guest records and departmental records.
Greet volunteers and supervise their time on an as-needed basis.
Provide building and grounds security, including security checks at various times throughout designated shifts to ensure interior and exterior are safe and secure and security cameras and alarms are monitored.
Utilize proper de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe environment for guests, volunteers, and staff.
Contact emergency services or law enforcement when necessary.
Maintain cleanliness of the building including directing and overseeing guest’s participation and personally taking part in cleaning efforts.
Stock and maintain office, cleaning, and food supply inventory.
Participate in staff meetings as requested.
Attend conferences, seminars, and training events as required.
Assist with other Mission-related work as required.
Maintain open and effective communication with peers and staff.
Assign/reassign program guests to Case Manager and Genesis Counselor.
Screen and approve new Genesis Applicants.
Oversee and mediate staff and guest conflicts.
Review guest relapses and behavior issues; determine guest’s placement in program based on their desire to address recovery, behavior, ownership of their recovery plan and appropriateness of recovery environment.
Develop personalized recovery and repair plan for guests who relapse.
Work with Community Outreach Coordinator to address volunteer opportunities and scheduling for Genesis program.
Work to establish and maintain community partnerships with local churches, ministries, law enforcement, treatment facilities, medical centers, and other agencies.
Provide support to the Emergency Services Program as backup to the shelter supervisor team when required.
Ability to drive a 15-passenger van.
