Seeking a Dedicated Private Duty Caregiver Part-Time Hours: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday.
We are excited to bring additional caring and reliable personal care assistants onto our team! The Russell Family is seeking a dedicated private duty caregiver to support our mom in activities of daily life. She has been courageously living with Multiple Sclerosis for over 35 years; given the progressive nature of MS, she is now fully assisted by a power wheel chair and complete caregiver lifting. Despite these challenges, she maintains a positive outlook and continues to live life to the fullest—which is where YOU come in! Essentially, you are an extension of her, serving as her arms and legs to assist in managing the day to day activities of daily life. Our mom has always been very adventurous person- and continues to be so today. She is extremely intelligent, wise, funny, brave and noble. She thrives on intellectual stimulation every day. She loves to explore, shop and visit interesting restaurants.
Job Description:
Multiple Sclerosis is a degenerative nervous system condition; its progressive nature means it presents differently in every person. For our mom's case, she is in advanced stages of MS which means she is impacted with no mobility from the neck down as well as hyper sensation (stinging) in the lower extremities. Our caregivers function to make mom's active and meaningful life possible by fully transferring her to and from her power wheel chair, administering intermittent catheters throughout the day, providing full assistance during meals, administering daily medications, and assisting with bathing and grooming. While this description may sound overwhelming, these skills can be learned on the job; it is most important that you have the drive to bring a positive attitude and willing spirit! This position is through a private family employer; we expect our caregivers to operate on the established schedule rotation in a timely and professional manner.
Specifics:
- Companionship of a compassionate, patient, and reliable person who is willing to be more than a caregiver, but also a friend.
- Ability to transfer 135 lbs (full body weight) with proper lifting mechanics; this role requires two strenuous transfers of which you must be fit and capable of performing.
- Navigation of Apple products to access family/friend correspondence, reading, shopping, and other personal interests.
- Upstanding character: we are eager to open our home to caregivers that exude respect, dignity, and genuine care to our mom.
Job Requirements
- Valid Driver's License & ability to drive our mom to and from medical appointments and personal activities in the greater Atlanta area.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
Job Compensation
- Commensurate with applicant experience and qualifications. Starting pay at $28/hr.
