GCG Associates is seeking a motivated Land Surveyor / Party Chief to join our established civil engineering and land surveying firm. We are looking for someone who enjoys working both outdoors and in the office and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.
As a member of our team, you’ll work on a wide variety of projects throughout Massachusetts, including municipal, roadway, utility, and land development, residential and commercial projects. You’ll have the opportunity to use modern survey equipment while working alongside experienced Professional Land Surveyors and civil engineers in a collaborative environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform boundary, topographic, existing conditions, utility, and construction layout surveys.
- Operate robotic total stations, GPS equipment, data collectors, and digital levels.
- Lead or assist field survey crews.
- Download, process, and organize field data.
- Prepare and edit survey drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Coordinate with engineers, surveyors, contractors, and clients.
- Assist with construction staking and layout for a variety of civil engineering projects.
- Maintain survey equipment and ensure accurate field documentation.
- Travel to project sites throughout Massachusetts.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years preferred of surveying experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Motivated candidates with less experience are encouraged to apply.
- Experience performing boundary, topographic, utility, existing conditions, and construction layout surveys.
- Proficiency with total stations, GPS equipment, data collectors, and digital levels.
- Ability to read and interpret survey records, plans, and engineering drawings.
- Strong math, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
The following are considered a plus but are not required:
- AutoCAD Civil 3D experience
- MassDOT project experience
- Drone survey experience and FAA Part 107 certification
- Laser scanning survey experience
- Surveyor-in-Training (SIT) certification
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licensure
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Travel across rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces
- Lift and carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Safely operate standard survey equipment and basic hand tools.
