The Generator Technician supports the readiness, reliability, and safe operation of mission-critical power systems during an OCONUS deployment in the Pacific Rim. This boots-on-the-ground role performs hands-on inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of diesel generator systems and associated electrical and fuel-support components in a fast-moving, austere field environment. The successful candidate is technically capable, safety-focused, dependable, and fully prepared to deploy and work extended schedules in support of the mission.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on scheduled, preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on diesel-powered generators and associated equipment, including control panels, batteries, chargers, transfer switches, fuel components, cabling, and basic power-distribution interfaces.
- Conduct daily operational inspections, readiness checks, and service activities; inspect fluid levels, filters, belts, hoses, batteries, alarms, gauges, leaks, wiring, and other critical system components.
- Troubleshoot generator and power-system issues, including no-start conditions, low or high voltage, frequency irregularities, overloads, battery or charging failures, control-panel alarms, and automatic transfer switch concerns.
- Start, stop, exercise, test, monitor, and load generators in accordance with approved procedures, manufacturer guidance, and site requirements.
- Complete routine servicing and minor-to-moderate repairs within scope; identify larger repair needs, coordinate escalation, and support continuity of critical power operations.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, maintenance logs, work orders, parts usage records, and equipment-status reports for supervisor and client visibility.
- Follow lockout/tagout, PPE, job hazard analysis, fuel-handling, electrical-safety, and all site-specific safety procedures; immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment failures, or incidents.
- Support organized parts, tools, consumables, and fuel-related inventory; identify shortages early and communicate operational needs promptly.
- Work collaboratively with site leadership, electricians, logistics personnel, and other technical staff to maintain mission readiness and restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated, hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing diesel generator systems in commercial, industrial, field, military, utility, disaster-response, or similarly demanding environments.
- Working knowledge of generator engines, alternators, batteries, chargers, control panels, automatic transfer switches, fuel systems, basic electrical circuits, and related mechanical and electrical components.
- Ability to read and apply service manuals, wiring diagrams, equipment schematics, operating procedures, and technical documentation.
- Valid U.S. passport with sufficient validity for international travel and the ability to maintain travel readiness throughout the deployment period.
- United States citizenship required.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet applicable vehicle, client, and site-access requirements.
- Ability and willingness to deploy OCONUS; work 12-hour shifts, 7 days per week; and adapt to changing operational priorities.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds; stand, walk, bend, climb, and work around heavy equipment, noise, heat, humidity, uneven terrain, and temporary or austere work conditions.
- High school diploma or GED, strong safety discipline, dependable attendance, and the ability to pass all required pre-employment, client, and deployment screening requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical training, certification, or formal apprenticeship in diesel technology, power generation, industrial maintenance, electrical systems, or a related trade.
- Experience supporting emergency response, disaster recovery, military, government, remote-site, or OCONUS operations.
- OSHA 10, OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, electrical-safety, or comparable safety training.
- Experience with load-bank testing, generator paralleling, switchgear, medium-voltage systems, or multiple-generator power configurations.
Work Environment
This is an OCONUS, field-based deployment role in the Pacific Rim. Work will be performed in an austere and fast-moving environment and may include exposure to tropical heat, humidity, rain, wind, noise, dust, active equipment, fuel and exhaust, uneven surfaces, changing site conditions, and limited access to customary services. The assignment requires extended 12-hour shifts, 7 days per week, based on operational requirements. Compensation is provided as a daily rate plus per diem; deployment housing and transportation are provided.
