This position is based at Fort Novosel, Alabama, inside the Pharmacy.
We are seeking a Full Time Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our team.
You will be expected to work 5 days per week, Monday-Friday between 7:30am to 4:30pm. No Holidays or Weekends.
Minimum Requirements:
- 1 year work experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Diploma from a Pharmacy Technician program
- PTCB Certification
- Current BLS
- Clean Background
- Must be US Citizen
- Job Duties:
· Perform a full range of pharmacy technician procedures
· Perform pharmaceutical dispensing duties including filling new outpatient prescriptions, refilling prescriptions, and entering orders into databases.
· Perform information consultation duties including supporting new and refill prescriptions, supporting patient requests, supporting physician’s requests, monitoring for drug interactions, and reporting adverse drug reactions.
· Perform quality improvement duties including performing drug storage inspection, reviewing expired supplies, and producing error and workload reports and documentation.
· Perform supply process duties including placing new orders, stocking/restocking shelves, inventory maintenance, producing not in stock reports.
· Serve as dispensing pharmacy technicians performing most or all of the following duties that can range from routine to difficult.
· Receive, and review prescriptions for the full range of pharmaceuticals to include controlled drugs on the formulary.
· Determines type of substance, strength, dosage, and quantity to be dispensed in accordance with accepted practice and pharmacy standard operating procedures (SOPs).
· Enter prescriptions into outpatient computer system review info profile for allergies, drug/drug or drug/food interactions, and duplicate orders.
· Coordinate with prescriber or pharmacist to clarify issues or problems with dosing, interactions, or instructions.
· Scans the prescriptions for the filler and checker after typing prescriptions and then fills the prescription; obtains the pharmaceutical, prepares package labels, visually inspect the medication in the bottle to be dispensed, verifies appropriate medication, checks the printed label affixed to the container against the original prescription for correctness. When the prescription has been filled and labeled, container is set aside for a final check by the supervising pharmacist.
· Attend the dispensing window for pick up; provides instruction to patients on proper use of medications, referring questions requiring professional knowledge and experience to the registered pharmacist.
· Performs all outpatient functions with minimal supervision by the registered pharmacist(s). Perform other pharmacy technician duties as assigned.
· Pharmacy technicians will be trained by the Government and must fully utilize the organization's automated clinical and administrative health information systems (HIS). - Health Information Systems Security: The Composite Health Care System incorporates and adheres to all known Privacy Act and Health Information Release Confidentiality directives. User access is assigned according to a strict "need to know" standard. The user will be held accountable, for any breech, compromise, or other degradation of patient or health related. information. - Advise the COR of any problems encountered, or which may be encountered, in connection with meeting the needs of patients treated, including problems with regard to Government personnel.
