American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a NC or compact RN license.
-
Med/Surg Tele unit within a 241-licensed-bed, Level 3 Trauma teaching hospital with a Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
-
24-bed unit with an average daily census of 24 patients
-
Patient population includes cardiac, respiratory, and neuro diagnoses in a fast-paced observation setting
-
RN to patient ratio of 1:5-6 on days and nights, with possible surge ratios up to 1:7-8

CNA to patient ratio of 1:12
-
12-hour night shift schedule, 36 hours per week, shift begins at 6:45pm
-
Every other weekend rotation required
-
Possible low census call-back, up to 3am for nights and 3pm for days
-
Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice

Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Massimo monitors in all rooms
-
Support team includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalist coverage, 24/7 intensivist, and remote telemetry monitoring with tele tech

Active RN license (NC or Compact) required

Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
-
At least 6 months of Epic EMR experience required

Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation and administration of non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)

General med/surg skillset required, including care of patients with tubes/drains, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care/dressing changes
-
Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
-
Provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population with cardiac, respiratory, and neurological conditions
-
Collaborate with a strong multidisciplinary support team including charge nurses, respiratory therapists, intensivists, and hospitalists
-
Orientation includes facility-wide NEO and 2 days of departmental orientation
-
Expected to work 75% of holidays
-
Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
