About the Role:
As the Shipping Lead you will work closely with the Warehouse Manager to ensure all ground orders are pulled; packed; labeled; and shipped accurately daily. You will maintain a clean, organized, and stocked shipping station that supports an efficient and streamlined workflow. You will be responsible for training warehouse team members who specialize in shipping, as well as team members who are cross trained in shipping functions. You will maintain excellent interdepartmental communication and coordination to ensure all orders are fulfilled, including proactively addressing out-of-stock items and coordinating solutions to minimize delays. You will serve as a warehouse leader who upholds company standards and policies while identifying opportunities for process and operational improvements.
Who You Are:
- Experience in warehouse operations, preferably shipping, receiving or logistics.
- Expert-level knowledge of ground shipping processes & proficiency in freight.
- Proven experience with accurate order picking using printed pick sheets and manual warehouse processes.
- Proven success in leadership, with the ability to effectively guide, motivate, and develop team members.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment; forklift certification preferred.
- Willingness to cross-train in all areas of warehouse operations, including assisting customers with warehouse order pickups.
- Experience using ERP or WMS systems is a plus.
What You’ll Do:
- Receive and organize printed pick lists from the Orders Team in chronological order to ensure an efficient and organized picking process.
- Accurately pick and pull products from warehouse inventory to fulfill orders.
- Complete a second-person verification of each order to ensure accuracy before packing and shipping.
- Select appropriate box sizes and apply best packing practices to minimize shipping costs and ensure products are protected from damage.
- Create and print accurate shipping labels and verify all shipping information.
- Stack and organize boxes securely on pallets and oversee all ground packages are staged and successfully picked up by ground carriers daily.
- Communicate any out-of-stock items with the Orders Team promptly and coordinate order adjustments based on the customer’s preferences.
- Work collaboratively with the warehouse team to assist in other areas and perform additional responsibilities as needed.
- Continuously learn new tasks and cross-train to strengthen the team and support company success.
- Participate and contribute to daily warehouse meetings led by the Warehouse Manager and Operations Manager, providing updates, feedback, and insights to support effective communication and operations.
- Contribute to the successful implementation and adoption of ERP, inventory and WMS systems to improve workflows, increase productivity, and enhance overall operational efficiency.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Ability to kneel, bend, reach, climb, and lift with full range of body motion.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in warehouse environments with varying temperatures.
- Ability to use a pallet jack, carts, and other warehouse equipment safely.
