The Head of Program loves camp and is charged w/ developing, implementing, and coordinating the staff to deliver all programming aspects of the camp experience. The “HOP” is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training and retaining an exceptional seasonal staff. The expectation is that most of the planning and preparation occurs during the 8 months leading up to summer, so during the summer the HOP can focus entirely on execution. This role reports directly to the Camp Director.
FOUR CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Talent: Build, hire, develop, and retain a best-in-class team.
- Activity Production: Design and deliver activities programming that can scale.
- Senior Camp Production: Design, execute, and maintain an industry leading Senior Camper Program that retains campers through age 17.
- ¡WOW! Moments: Produce ¡WOW! moments that keep campers and families coming back for more.
- Work to articulate Camp Hidden Meadows’ “hiring brand”, raising our profile among top talent in the youth development, outdoor recreation, and hospitality industries.
- Work to establish and maintain a system for recruiting seasonal staff members (activity leaders, unit leaders, counselors, and nurses);
- Identify ways to retain talent over the long haul, including professional development and promotion paths.
- Responsible for accurate staffing and on/offboarding tasks, including but not limited to, new hire communications, visa administration and compliance, termination notifications, etc.
- Work in partnership with Camp Director to coordinate and lead staff training and to assist in leading weekly training for staff throughout the course of the summer.
- Oversee the scheduling of program activities, staff and camper schedules, and all-camp events during the summer.
- Oversee and manage (with Trips and Travel Coordinator) production of off-site trips (logistics, partners, food, etc) and develop programming for downtime (eg, buses) to build relationships and develop culture.
Pay: $48,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
