THE ROLE
The Warehouse Operative will support the planning, organization and controlling of the end-to-end Warehouse Operation. From physical receipt of booking in goods, to labelling and movement throughout the warehouse, and picking and packing customer orders for delivery. The Warehouse Operative will be motivated, organized and reliable with a positive attitude and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Manage stock control; the self-assured receipt, storage, retrieval, and timely delivery of goods, shipment loading and transferring, document recording, and data entry into the system
- Ensure goods are booked in and out of the Inventory Management System accurately with batch details, expiry dates, quantity, and delivery addresses
- Monitor Warehouse and cold room temperature daily and ensure accurate record keeping.
- Set up space layout and carry out space management
- Ensure workplace health and safety requirements are met and take responsibility for the security of the warehouse and stock
- Proactively liaise with couriers, suppliers, and clients to organize and deliver timely shipments. Negotiate rates with carrier representatives
- Prepare paperwork to meet regulatory requirements
- Prepare commercial invoices for products to be imported/exported
- Respond to operational emails and internal communications in a timely manner.
- Maintain and update operational Excel Trackers.
- Take ownership of the logistics process and ensure steps are in place to maintain the integrity of products during transportation
REQUIREMENTS
- Educated to High school diploma or equivalent
- Work location is the office address in Somerset, NJ (full-time, onsite).
- Minimum 2-3 years direct work experience in a warehouse & logistics capacity, including all aspects of liaising and relationships with courier companies
- Experience of working in a GMP/GDP environment and prior employment within pharmaceutical or life sciences industry is a definite advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (eg Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
- Database and operational experience with stock control systems (e.g., SAP), would be a definite advantage
- Technically competent with various software programs (e.g., DSCSA), would be an advantage
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, comfortably and safely.
- Must be able to work in refrigerated and frozen conditions; appropriate PPE/safety clothing is provided
- Experience and understanding of courier companies’ processes
- Customer service skills and excellent telephone manners are essential
- Good working knowledge of safety in a warehouse setting
