Job Summary
Manor Country Club is seeking an Assistant Mechanic to support the Head Mechanic in the daily maintenance and repair of our golf course equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is mechanically inclined, dependable, and eager to build a career in equipment maintenance.
In this hands-on role, you'll assist with preventative maintenance, equipment diagnostics, and repairs while gaining experience working on a wide variety of engines, mowers, utility vehicles, and specialized golf course equipment. You'll receive on-the-job training from an experienced Head Mechanic, develop valuable technical skills, and play an important role in keeping our equipment operating safely, efficiently, and at peak performance.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Mechanic with the daily maintenance and repair of golf course equipment, including:
- Reel and rotary mowers
- Utility vehicles
- Tractors
- Sprayers and spreaders
- Small engine equipment (trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, etc.)
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service on all equipment.
- Assist with grinding, sharpening, adjusting, and maintaining cutting units to ensure high-quality mowing performance.
- Learn and follow proper equipment setup procedures, including height-of-cut adjustments and mower calibration.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and assist with repairs under the direction of the Head Mechanic.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe equipment shop.
- Assist with welding, fabrication, hydraulic repairs, electrical troubleshooting, and other mechanical work as skills develop.
- Maintain accurate service records and communicate equipment needs or concerns.
- Follow all safety standards and environmental regulations.
- Assist with training team members on the proper operation and care of equipment.
Qualifications
Required
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
- Dependable with a strong work ethic and reliable attendance.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Ability to lift, move, and handle equipment parts and tools.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
Preferred
- Experience with turf equipment, automotive repair, diesel mechanics, agricultural equipment, or small engines.
- Experience maintaining reel mowers or golf course maintenance equipment.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Technical school or vocational training in automotive, diesel, mechanics, or turf equipment.
- Fluent Spanish-speaking ability is highly preferred and considered a significant asset for this position.

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
