Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper with proven experience working within non-profit organizations. In this vital role, you will manage the organization’s financial records, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and support the financial health of our mission-driven organization. Your expertise in various accounting software and systems will help us maintain accurate financial data, prepare reports, and facilitate smooth financial operations. Responsibilities
- Maintain and update the organization’s general ledger using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, QB desktop, Xero, Sage, or similar systems
- Process payroll accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing and payment reconciliation
- Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations regularly to ensure data accuracy
- Prepare journal entries, analyze accounts, and perform double-entry bookkeeping in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Assist with governmental accounting requirements and non-profit-specific financial reporting
- Conduct account analysis, reconcile accounts, and ensure proper documentation of all transactions
- Generate detailed financial reports, including budgets, financial statements, and audit-ready documentation
- Support year-end closing activities, including tax preparation support and audit coordination
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions using spreadsheets and specialized accounting software
Experience
- Proven bookkeeping experience within non-profit organizations or similar mission-driven entities
- Extensive knowledge of accounting systems such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, or comparable platforms
- Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles, GAAP standards, governmental accounting practices, and tax regulations relevant to non-profits
- Experience with payroll processing, account reconciliation, bank statement review, and journal entry posting
- Familiarity with financial concepts including debits & credits, general ledger management, account analysis, and budgeting processes
- Ability to work efficiently with spreadsheets for data analysis and reporting purposes
- Prior public accounting or corporate accounting experience is a plus but not required

Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
