Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities by assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Support individuals in social skills development, communication (including American Sign Language if applicable), and community participation.
- Collect and document data related to progress, behavior patterns, and health status to inform care plans.
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols and maintain detailed medication records.
- Drive clients to appointments, activities, or community outings safely and responsibly.
- Collaborate with families, behavioral health professionals, educators, and social workers to develop personalized care plans that meet each individual’s unique needs.
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of special education principles and behavior management techniques.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with individuals of diverse abilities and support teams.
- Ability to assist with ADLs and provide caregiving support in home or community settings.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record for transportation responsibilities.
- Familiarity with data collection methods related to health or behavioral progress.
- Certification or experience in medication administration is a plus but not required; training will be provided if necessary.
