InSync Consulting Services is seeking an experienced Senior Patient Care Coordinator (Outpatient) with Epic experience to support front office operations within a healthcare outpatient setting in Portland, OR.
This role is ideal for a healthcare administrative professional who has experience with patient access, referrals, insurance verification, scheduling, and coordinating daily clinic workflows. The Senior Patient Care Coordinator works independently with minimal supervision and provides support, guidance, and training to team members as needed.
Position Summary
The Senior Patient Care Coordinator coordinates patient access functions, administrative operations, and front office workflows to ensure efficient patient processing and exceptional service. This position supports patient registration, scheduling, financial processes, referral tracking, records management, and communication between patients, providers, and departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate patient admissions and front office operations.
- Support receptionist, clerical, scheduling, and communication functions.
- Manage patient registration and ensure accurate demographic, insurance, and billing information.
- Track and coordinate referrals to specialists and therapy services.
- Review and prioritize incoming mail, faxes, messages, and documentation.
- Assist with patient inquiries regarding accounts, billing questions, and required paperwork.
- Verify insurance coverage, third-party payers, and workers’ compensation accounts.
- Explain financial responsibilities, payment requirements, deposits, and deductibles to patients.
- Collect payments and maintain accurate cash receipt records.
- Assist patients with payment plans according to established guidelines.
- Maintain and update patient records while following confidentiality requirements.
- Prepare reports, statistics, and administrative documentation for leadership.
- Process correspondence including letters, emails, calendars, and other office communications.
- Assist with special projects, events, and departmental activities.
- Maintain employee education records and required documentation.
- Provide onboarding support and assist with training team members.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Epic experience required.
- Minimum of 2 years of healthcare administrative or patient access experience preferred.
- Experience working in an outpatient clinic, hospital, or medical office setting.
- Strong knowledge of patient registration, referrals, insurance verification, and scheduling.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle confidential patient information with professionalism.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- Associate degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
- Experience with financial counseling, patient accounts, or medical billing processes.
- Experience assisting with staff training or workflow coordination.
Pay: $26.00 - $27.50 per hour
