Sorted Bins is a new reusable moving-bin rental service in SF and the Peninsula. We deliver clean stackable bins to customers, then pick them up when the move is done. No cardboard, no waste. We're hiring a licensed owner-operator to run our delivery and pickup routes.
We've listed every requirement below so nothing surprises you later. We verify all of it before your first route.
The work:
- Load empty bins at our South San Francisco warehouse unit, deliver to customers around SF and the Peninsula (down to Redwood City), pick up bins when rentals end. Wiping down and restaging returned bins is part of the paid route day.
- Light work. Bins are empty on both legs, no furniture, no heavy moving. You should be comfortable lifting ~50 lbs and being on your feet.
- Two set route days: Wednesday and Saturday. Routes start from the warehouse in the morning, typically wrapped by early-to-mid afternoon. More days as we grow.
- Straight talk on hours: we're a brand-new company and early route days will be short. That's why every dispatched route day pays a guaranteed minimum of $150 — if your route wraps early, you still earn the minimum; if it runs long, you earn $40/hr for the full day. Volume and hours grow from there.
- Paid training route alongside the founder to start. First routes kick off this fall — exact start date confirmed at offer.
You must have (all verified before first dispatch):
- A cargo van or small box truck in good condition (Transit, Sprinter, ProMaster, or similar).
- An active California Motor Carrier Permit (MCP) and USDOT number. State law requires us to verify this before we can dispatch you — if you don't currently hold an MCP, we can't start you at launch.
- Commercial auto insurance, with a certificate naming Sorted Bins LLC as additional insured before your first route. Your agent can usually issue this in a day.
- OK with a background check (criminal + driving record) through Checkr. We pay for it and it takes a few minutes on a consent form. A record is not automatically disqualifying — we only consider job-related findings, and driving history matters most for this role.
- W-9 and a signed independent contractor services agreement before first dispatch.
- Clean driving record, valid license, smartphone, and a professional, punctual presence — you're the face of Sorted Bins at the door.
Bonus points: delivery/courier/moving experience; familiarity with SF & Peninsula streets and parking; a backup driver in your network who can cover a breakdown day.
