TYLin is seeking an experienced Project Manager – Aviation (Airside Development) to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex airside infrastructure projects at major airports. We are looking for a project manager with a proven track record of delivering airside development projects at large commercial airports in the United States or internationally. The successful candidate will have experience managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with airport owners, airlines, regulatory agencies, and construction partners to deliver projects in active operational environments.
The Opportunity
As Project Manager – Aviation (Airside Development), you will oversee the delivery of complex aviation infrastructure projects from planning and design through construction support. You will manage technical teams, coordinate with airport stakeholders, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with airport operational requirements.
This role requires a strong understanding of airfield operations, FAA design standards, phasing and constructability, and the unique challenges associated with delivering projects while maintaining uninterrupted airport operations.
Responsibilities

Lead the planning, design, and delivery of major airside infrastructure projects.

Manage multidisciplinary project teams consisting of civil engineers, airfield planners, pavement specialists, electrical engineers, architects, environmental professionals, and specialty consultants.

Serve as the primary point of contact with airport owners, program management teams, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.

Develop project execution plans, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and risk mitigation strategies.

Coordinate design development, permitting, procurement, construction support, and project closeout activities.

Manage consultant performance, quality assurance, project controls, and client communications.

Coordinate closely with airport operations to minimize impacts on aircraft movements and airport functionality during construction.

Support contractor coordination, phasing reviews, staging plans, and operational readiness activities.

Identify project risks and develop practical solutions to maintain schedule, budget, and operational objectives.

Prepare executive-level presentations, technical reports, and project status updates.

Mentor junior project managers and technical staff while contributing to the continued growth of TYLin's Aviation practice.
Qualifications Required

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Airport Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Planning or a related discipline.

10+ years of progressive experience managing aviation infrastructure projects, including significant experience on airside developments.

Demonstrated experience delivering projects at major commercial airports in the United States or internationally.

Strong knowledge of FAA airport design standards, Advisory Circulars, airfield geometry, and operational requirements.

Experience managing multidisciplinary design and engineering teams.

Proven ability to manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client expectations.

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Experience coordinating projects within active airport operational environments.
Preferred

Experience delivering projects for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (PANYNJ).

Experience with FAA Airport Improvement Program (AIP)-funded projects.

Familiarity with ICAO standards and international airport development projects.

Experience with Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), or Public-Private Partnership (P3) delivery methods.

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
