Join our dynamic team as a Fleet Maintenance Technician, where your expertise keeps our fleet running smoothly and efficiently! In this vital role, you will perform comprehensive maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on a wide range of heavy equipment, trucks, and industrial machinery. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery, all while contributing to a fast-paced and safety-conscious environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and trailers to ensure optimal operation.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics and automotive diagnostics tools; perform repairs on transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, and HVAC systems.
- Repair and replace components including shocks & struts, tires, brake systems, electrical wiring, power tools assemblies, and welding repairs.
- Fabricate parts or modify equipment using hand tools and welding techniques to meet operational needs.
- Maintain detailed service records for all repairs and maintenance activities; ensure compliance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Assist in heavy lifting tasks using appropriate equipment; perform tire services and alignments as needed to keep vehicles in top condition.
- Support customer service by providing timely repairs and clear communication regarding maintenance status.
Requirements
- Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment operation and automotive repair; dealership experience is highly preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, HVAC units, and suspension components.
- Proficiency in reading schematics and using diagnostic tools for troubleshooting complex issues.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and service technician procedures.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely; comfortable working on elevated or confined spaces.
- Experience with farm machinery, industrial equipment, tractor-trailers, or similar large vehicles is a plus.
- Excellent customer service skills with a proactive attitude toward safety and quality assurance.
