House of Thyme is a growing mold inspection and building forensics company focused on helping people live in healthier homes. If there is mold or another environmental concern, we want to find it. We believe in being detailed, thorough, and thoughtful in everything we do.
We are a new company with significant growth plans. We are building systems that prioritize accuracy, transparency, and the intelligent use of technology. As we grow, we will continue integrating automation and AI to improve reporting quality and customer experience.

The Role
This position combines fieldwork and analytical report writing. We are looking for candidates with existing skill set in residential construction or a closely-related field. Having a baseline understanding of how home's are built is an essential asset. The rest we will teach you!
You will spend 3–4 days per week in the field conducting environmental sampling in residential homes across the greater Austin area. The remaining time will be dedicated to writing detailed reports, reviewing lab results, and preparing clear documentation for clients.
Typical workload is 1–3 jobs per day, depending on the scope and package selected by the client.
Technicians build ongoing relationships with clients. This includes follow-up visits for post-remediation testing and annual re-testing. Over time, we want you to feel like you are building and managing your own client base.
Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site environmental sampling (including mold assessments)
- Perform thorough visual inspections
- Collect air and surface samples according to industry standards
- Document findings with photos and detailed field notes
- Write clear, comprehensive, and accurate reports
- Communicate results to clients in a professional, understandable way
- Maintain scheduling coordination and timely report turnaround
- Represent House of Thyme professionally in clients’ homes
Travel
- Serving the greater Austin area
- Driving required 3–4 days per week
- Limited travel outside service area unless mutually agreed
- Mileage reimbursed at current IRS rates
- Use of your own vehicle is required
Qualifications
- field experience in residential construction
- MAT (Mold Assessment Technician) or MAC (Mold Assessment Consultant)
If you are:
- A MAT looking to grow into a MAC, we will support that path.
- Not currently certified but have relevant experience and strong interest, apply. We are open to helping the right person obtain their MAT.
A criminal background check is required due to in-home client visits.

Compensation & Benefits
- Starting salary:
- $50,000
- Company paid technical certifications/licensing.
