Certified Phlebotomist
A high school diploma or equivalency is required. Formal phlebotomy training, and certification by a national accrediting agency is required. BLS training is required.
Draws blood samples from patients by skin punctures, venipunctures and/or arterial punctures maintaining the integrity of the specimen in relation to the test being performed. Prepares patients for phlebotomies using age-related competencies. Collects outpatient urine specimens. Distributes specimens to appropriate laboratory sections for testing/processing.
