Job Summary
In this position, you will be responsible for the alteration and repair of a variety of garments, including suits, sport coats, pants, shirts, and other clothing items. Your expertise will ensure that every garment provides a perfect fit and a polished look for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Alterations: Perform alterations on suits, sport coats, pants, shirts, and other garments, including hemming, resizing, and modifying design elements as needed.
- Repairs: Repair and refurbish garments, addressing issues such as tears, loose seams, and damaged linings.
- Quality Control: Ensure all finished garments meet high standards of quality, fit, and finish before delivery to clients.
- Inventory Management: Maintain an organized work area and manage fabric, thread, and other supplies effectively.
Qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience as a tailor, seamstress or in a similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing expertise in suit and garment alterations and repairs.
- Skills: Proficiency in sewing machine operation, hand stitching, pattern matching, and fabric manipulation.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and precision in altering garments.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with coworkers and understand customer needs/alteration requirements.
- Adaptability: Ability to handle a variety of garments and adapt to different styles and fabrics, as well as changes in customer work priorities.
Education
- Relevant certification or training in tailoring or fashion design is preferred.
- 3+ years experience altering all manner of clothing.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks.
- Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for sewing and detailed work.
