Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression.
- Schedule appointments accurately using Open Dental, coordinating with clinical staff to optimize daily workflow.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits through various insurance portals.
- Collect payments and perform medical billing tasks including CPT coding and Medicare documentation review to facilitate accurate claims submission.
- Manage patient records, maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations while updating dental and medical information in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Handle phone systems with excellent phone etiquette to answer inquiries, schedule appointments, and provide outstanding customer service.
- Assist with insurance verification, intake procedures, and documentation review to support efficient office operations.
- Maintain filing systems for medical records and dental charts, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Support office management tasks such as data entry using Microsoft Office tools and performing clerical duties like filing and faxing documents.
- Collaborate effectively with clinical staff to coordinate patient care plans and ensure smooth clinic flow.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental or medical office environment is highly preferred, especially within a clinic setting.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Open Dental is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of medical/dental terminology, CPT coding, and insurance billing procedures.
- Experience handling medical administrative support tasks such as appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and patient intake procedures.
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
