Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and efficiently manage the front desk operations, including appointment scheduling and patient check-in/out processes.
- Conduct patient intake by collecting medical histories, updating electronic health records (EHR), and verifying insurance information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Measure and assist in comprehensive eye examinations.
- Prepare patients for ophthalmic examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring their comfort throughout the process.
- Operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment including A-scan biometry, tonometry devices, and other ophthalmic diagnostic tools to gather accurate data for diagnosis.
- Assist with eye refraction procedures and perform basic clinical assessments under the supervision of the optometrist.
- Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and clinical confidentiality policies while handling medical records and sensitive patient information.
- Support the use of EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation of patient visits, test results, and billing information.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and ophthalmic equipment to ensure readiness for daily clinic operations.
- Provide excellent patient service by addressing questions, explaining treatment plans, and ensuring a positive experience during each visit.
Requirements
- Ability to perform basic clinical procedures including vital signs measurement, and maintaining sterile environments through aseptic technique.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient service and direct patient care in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while demonstrating attention to detail and organizational skills.
