MER AVI is a commercial Audio Visual and Low Voltage contractor based in the Bay Area. We focus on conference room technology installations, structured cabling, AV equipment racks, video conferencing systems, and other commercial technology infrastructure projects.

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced AV Lead Technician who can work independently, lead installation crews when required, troubleshoot technical issues, and deliver high-quality installations in commercial environments.
This position is project-based and is ideal for a technician looking for consistent work with the opportunity to grow into a long-term role as our project workload continues to expand.
Work is currently secured beginning August 1st, with approximately one month of scheduled projects already awarded. Additional projects are actively being pursued, and this position has the potential to grow into a regular full-time opportunity for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate AV installation crews on commercial projects
- Install, terminate, label, test, and troubleshoot low-voltage cabling
- Build, wire, and commission AV equipment racks
- Install displays, cameras, microphones, speakers, DSPs, and control systems
- Read and interpret AV drawings, floor plans, and schematics
- Coordinate with project managers, clients, IT teams, and other trades
- Perform system testing, commissioning, and quality control inspections
- Troubleshoot system issues and identify root causes
- Maintain project documentation and punch lists
- Ensure installations meet project specifications and company quality standards
- Mentor and assist junior technicians when required
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of commercial AV integration experience
- Minimum 5 years of low-voltage cabling experience
- Experience building and wiring AV equipment racks
- Experience with conference room technology installations
- Ability to read construction drawings and AV schematics
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Professional communication and customer service skills

Leadership Experience
Preferred candidates will have experience:
- Leading crews of 3–10 technicians
- Coordinating daily installation activities
- Managing field schedules and project priorities
- Conducting quality control inspections
- Working directly with project managers, clients, IT teams, and general contractors
Certifications
Certifications are beneficial but not required.
Equivalent hands-on field experience leading commercial AV installations will be considered in place of certifications.
Examples include:
- CTS or CTS-I
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
- Dante Certification
- Q-SYS Training
- Crestron Training
- Manufacturer Technical Certifications
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable transportation
- English proficiency
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to work on ladders and active construction sites
- Ability to travel throughout the Bay Area as project needs require
