The Virginia Beer Company has opened our second location, The Kitchen, at 7120 George Washington Memorial Highway in Yorktown!
We are seeking energetic applicants to work collaboratively in this new brewpub space. We need motivated teammates to help us keep up with a busy kitchen, including dish support and food prep. This is an integral role to ensuring that food service at the new brewpub can keep up with growing demand!

Job Summary

Duties
- Thoroughly wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment to uphold cleanliness and hygiene standards
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as slicing, chopping, and portioning ingredients following established recipes and safety guidelines
- Support meal assembly and plating to ensure timely delivery of dishes during service hours
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, including counters, sinks, and storage areas, adhering to sanitation protocols
- Operate kitchen equipment safely, including dishwashers, mixers, slicers, and other kitchen appliances
- Follow food safety procedures related to proper food handling, storage, and temperature control
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth workflow and effective communication during busy periods
- Act as a positive community representative for VBC — in person and online

Skills
- Prior experience in a commercial kitchen is highly desirable
- Ability to follow instructions related to menu planning and food preparation techniques
- Strong understanding of cleaning routines and sanitation standards in food service environments
- Ability to operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Experience with food handling safety management and adherence to safety standards in production
- Polite communication skills for effective teamwork with kitchen staff
- Culinary experience including knife skills, slicing techniques, and recipe adherence is a plus
- Desire to grow and learn in a fast-paced setting...opportunities to move into growth roles such as Line Cook are available

~ The Virginia Beer Company offers competitive compensation commensurate with the industry, role, area, and candidate experience. This position is hourly (with overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 hours in a week…which would only happen in select circumstances as discussed & agreed upon with a supervisor). We strive to promote from within and offer opportunities to grow as we grow.
