Hydraulic Service Technician – Line Boring

Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Hydraulic Service Technician specializing in portable line boring to join our growing hydraulic repair team. The Hydraulic Service Technician will perform precision welding, machining, and portable line boring to repair and refurbish heavy equipment components in both the shop and at customer job sites.
The ideal Hydraulic Service Technician has strong welding and machining experience, can confidently read blueprints, and is experienced operating manual machine tools while maintaining tight tolerances. This Hydraulic Service Technician position offers a combination of shop work and field service using a company-provided service vehicle.
Shift Schedule
Monday – Friday | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Key Responsibilities
- Perform portable line boring and welding repairs on heavy equipment components as a Hydraulic Service Technician.
- Repair and refurbish hydraulic and mechanical components to manufacturer and customer specifications.
- Perform both shop-based and field service repairs using a company-provided service vehicle.
- Operate a variety of machine shop equipment, including:
- Portable line bore mill
- Manual lathe
- Horizontal boring mill
- Vertical boring mill
- Horizontal band saw
- Welding equipment
- Overhead crane
- Forklift
- Machine both ferrous and non-ferrous materials to close tolerances.
- Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and repair specifications.
- Measure and inspect finished work using precision measuring instruments.
- Follow safe machining and welding practices while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
- Provide outstanding customer service while performing field service assignments.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic and mechanical issues to identify the most effective repair solutions.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card if not already certified.
- 3–5 years of welding and machine shop experience, preferably in heavy equipment repair, industrial maintenance, or equipment service.
- Experience performing portable line boring.
- Ability to provide personal hand tools (1-inch and smaller).
- Proficiency using precision measuring equipment, including:
- Micrometers
- Calipers
- Thread gauges
- Dial indicators
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Previous experience working as a Hydraulic Service Technician, Machinist, Line Bore Technician, or Heavy Equipment Technician is highly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience repairing heavy construction, mining, or industrial equipment.
- CNC machining experience (preferred but not required).
- Hydraulic component repair experience.
- Experience performing field service repairs at customer locations.
- Welding certifications are a plus.
