United Matriarchy Nations is a non-profit organization based in Southern California. We are focused on supporting and preserving traditionally matrilineal cultures. Internationally, millions of people come from cultures that are matrilineal. In recent decades, they have struggled to maintain their cultural heritage due to rapid changes.
UMN plans to send experts to rural communities to teach locals technology skills and digital literacy. We will also be partnering with production companies to increase recognition of these cultures through film and media.
UMN is seeking interns to assist with administrative tasks.
Responsibilities include:
- Blogging about events and other important information
- US and international outreach
- Answering supporter, client, and sponsor questions
- Creating fliers, drafting letters, and editing/updating office manuals
- Working to increase the organization's public reputation
- Updating the database
- Keeping the office organized, clean and tidy
- Screenplays/scripts reading and coverage
- Serving as liaison between international team members
Qualifications:
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong cross-cultural communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to collaborate and take direction
- Experience in film, non-profits, or a related industry
- Desire to work with people from a variety of different cultures
- Ability to commute to our office in Palos Verdes, California
- Fluency in a second language is not required, but a plus
This is a part-time, un paid internship. Students will receive academic credit.
Our office is open 10am to 7pm, Monday-Friday.
