The largest and most established estate planning and business law firm in California’s Antelope and Santa Clarita Valleys is seeking an experienced Accountant or Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team. Based in our growing Valencia, CA office, our firm, established almost 50 years ago and led by two CA Bar Board Certified Estate Planning Specialists, is committed to delivering exceptional service to our clients and providing industry-leading training and development opportunities for our team members.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented, professional, and proactive individual to manage financial operations for both individual and business clients. The successful candidate will work closely with senior attorneys and other professionals, contributing to the firm’s mission of excellence in estate planning and business law.
Ideally, this is a full-time position with benefits, offering a traditional Monday - Friday schedule. We are open to part time, contract or remote options for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage client accounts, including data entry, reconciliations, and financial record-keeping.
- Utilize standard bookkeeping and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar) to process transactions and generate reports.
- Prepare and file tax returns for individuals and businesses, ensuring compliance with IRS and FTB regulations.
- Correspond with the IRS, FTB, and other regulatory bodies on behalf of clients.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, resolving discrepancies and tracking missing information.
- Collaborate with clients and their professional teams (e.g., attorneys, banks, brokers) to ensure seamless financial operations.
- Assist with trust accounting, including managing trust ledgers and ensuring compliance with fiduciary standards (preferred but not required).
- Prepare financial statements, budgets, and reports as needed.
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding client and firm financial information.
- Provide thoughtful and professional responses to client inquiries and requests.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (transcripts may be requested).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, preferably with client account management.
- Proficiency with standard bookkeeping/accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).
- Experience preparing and filing tax returns for individuals and businesses.
- Familiarity with IRS and FTB correspondence and compliance requirements.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to commute to Valencia, CA 91355 for in-person work is preferred (remote or semi-remote can be an option for an exceptional candidate).
Preferences:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred but not required.
- Experience with trust accounting is a plus.
- Familiarity with legal or estate planning software is an advantage.
- Spanish fluency is a plus but not required.
