Position Summary:
Performs technical aspects of CT that ultimately lead to completed procedures with complete
clinical history. Operates equipment in a filmless environment, administering medical x-rays on
injured and/or sick patients as directed by physicians following accepted protocols and
policies. Checks the technical aspects of exams to determine the exactness of position and
technique, assists radiologists as needed, prepares study for interpretation, and provides
quality patient care.
Qualifications:
A. Education:
Required:
- American Registry of Radiology Technologists (RT) and in CT RT(R)(CT) or obtain American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) CT registration within 3 months of hire
- Certified by the Texas Medical Board, Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association
B. Training and Experience: A minimum of one-year CT technologist experience.
Demonstrated technical, verbal and teamwork skills required.
C. Job Knowledge: Knowledge of principles and practices of computed tomography, quality
improvement, communication and analytical skills required. This position requires
initiative, independent judgment, and ability to work closely with physicians, technical staff
and department management.
Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
A. Occasionally required to lift and position patients for procedures.
B. Possible exposure to infectious diseases and radiation.
