POSITION SUMMARY:
The National Account Director serves as Rigel’s strategic account leader for Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs), large health systems, and organized customers, and manages selected national and regional payer relationships that influence patient access and adoption of Rigel therapies. This field-based position is accountable for optimizing patient access by driving formulary adoption, clinical pathway integration, Electronic Health Record (EHR) optimization, electronic order set development, and coordinated market access strategies across organized customers.
The National Account Director serves as the primary commercial lead for health system engagement, building executive-level relationships with healthcare population decision-makers, including pharmacy leadership, clinical informatics teams, physician leadership, population health executives, Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) Committees, and health system administrators. The role also partners with assigned commercial and government payers to ensure aligned access strategies that support patient access and successful implementation across healthcare delivery systems.
Salary Range: $183,000 - $220,000
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Integrated Delivery Networks & Health Systems
- Develop and execute strategic account plans for Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs), large health systems, academic medical centers, and community healthcare networks.
- Establish executive relationships with healthcare population decision makers, including Chief Pharmacy Officers, Pharmacy Directors, Chief Medical Officers, Clinical Informatics leaders, Population Health executives, and Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) Committees.
- Drive enterprise formulary adoption and implementation strategies across organized health systems.
- Partner with health system leadership to integrate Rigel therapies into clinical pathways, standardized treatment protocols, and institutional care models.
- Identify opportunities to improve patient access through health system standardization, quality initiatives, and value-based care programs.
EHR & Clinical Workflow Leadership
- Lead Rigel's national strategy supporting Electronic Health Record (EHR) integration and electronic order set development across targeted health systems.
- Collaborate with health system clinical informatics teams to implement treatment plans, order sets, clinical decision support tools, and workflow enhancements that improve provider adoption and patient access.
- Partner with internal cross-functional teams to support enterprise implementation initiatives and remove operational barriers to therapy adoption.
- Identify and share best practices that enhance clinical workflow integration across organized customers.
Strategic Payer Management
- Manage assigned national and regional commercial and government payer accounts to optimize patient access for Rigel therapies.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with payer decision makers, including Medical Directors, Pharmacy Directors, and Market Access leadership.
- Negotiate and maintain payer agreements, where appropriate, to support access objectives while balancing organizational goals.
- Monitor payer policy changes, reimbursement trends, and coverage decisions, communicate business implications, and recommend strategic actions.
- Collaborate with payer and provider stakeholders to align access strategies across the healthcare continuum.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Sales Leadership, Institutional Business Managers (IBMs), Patient Services, and Managed Markets & Access colleagues to develop and execute coordinated customer strategies.
- Provide customer insights that inform brand planning, evidence generation, access initiatives, and customer engagement.
- Represent the voice of IDNs, health systems, and organized customers within commercial planning.
- Monitor trends in healthcare delivery, IDN consolidation, population health, digital health, and value-based care to inform strategic planning.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- BA/BS required; MBA, PharmD, MPH, MHA, or related advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare delivery, or managed markets experience.
- Demonstrated success managing Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs), large health systems, organized customers, or national payer accounts.
- Strong understanding of commercial and government payer dynamics, organized healthcare delivery systems, and reimbursement.
- Experience engaging executive health system stakeholders and leading enterprise customer strategies.
- Demonstrated experience supporting EHR integration, electronic order set development, clinical pathway implementation, or health system informatics initiatives preferred.
- Knowledge of healthcare quality initiatives, population health management, value-based care, and institutional decision-making processes.
- Strong strategic planning, negotiation, executive presentation, and relationship management skills.
