Duties and Responsibilities:

Runs tryouts and selects team with assistance from Spirit Director and Volunteer Assistants.

Attends practices consistently, on a weekly basis. 2-3 will suffice depending on Captain’s practices, academic and rest days and volunteer coach availability.

Holds 2-3 open practices during “off-season” to prepare for next year.

Attendance at and execution of two sports camps.

Supports Spirit Director through clear and consistent communication.

Coaches and prepares team for NCA/NDA College Nationals per funding and Spirit Director division decisions.

Attends all home games and appearances in which, the dance time is required to be present at.

Attends Army/Navy away game, once per year, as long as accommodation and budget permits.

Choreographs dance team performances, selects and edits music, and cleans performances.

Holds home game evaluations, prior to each home football game.

Attends and plans parents’ weekend practice and activities.

Attends and executes children’s clinics twice per year.

Orders, plans, and executes end-of-year inventory for uniforms and equipment.

Attends and executes the High School Spirit competition, if applicabl
Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge in the area of dance; particularly, the styles of pom and jazz.

Teaches proper dance technique in order to aide in each dancer’s overall improvement.

Has a background in teaching and coaching—at least 4 years worth of experience.

Can choreograph and clean dances.

Has leadership skills; ability to make decisions that are best for the team as a whole, act independently, and act professionally at all times.

Displays time management skills which will be applied for practices, game days, and appearances.

Acts in a professional manner and represents the Air Force Academy Dance Team, in addition to the Air Force Academy, to its highest standard.

Understands and has compassion to a cadet’s daily schedule and lifestyle.
