Job Overview
Hydro Engineering is seeking a dependable, mechanically skilled Field Equipment Installer to install industrial wash equipment, pressure-washing systems, wash racks, and water-filtration and recycling systems at customer locations.
This is a hands-on field position focused on routing and installing plumbing, piping, conduit, wiring, and equipment connections. The ideal candidate has experience in mechanical equipment installation, industrial plumbing, electrical work, or a related trade and can complete projects safely from drawings and installation instructions.
Responsibilities
- Install industrial pressure washers, pumps, tanks, wash racks, filtration systems, and water-recycling equipment.
- Lay out, route, assemble, and secure water, wastewater, chemical, air, and fuel piping as required.
- Install pipe, tubing, valves, fittings, unions, strainers, regulators, and related components.
- Run electrical conduit, pull wire, install disconnects, and make equipment and control connections within applicable qualifications and licensing requirements.
- Connect pumps, motors, control panels, sensors, switches, heaters, and remote-control stations.
- Assemble and anchor equipment, platforms, piping supports, and system components.
- Read and follow mechanical drawings, piping diagrams, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Pressure-test piping and inspect systems for leaks, proper flow, and secure connections.
- Assist with equipment startup, testing, troubleshooting, and customer training.
- Diagnose and correct plumbing, electrical, and mechanical installation issues.
- Coordinate with project managers, electricians, plumbers, contractors, and customer representatives.
- Maintain tools, materials, installation records, and a clean, organized worksite.
- Follow OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, electrical codes, plumbing codes, and company safety standards.
- Travel to customer locations and remain on-site, including overnight stays, for the duration of each installation project.
Qualifications
- Employment is contingent upon completion of a criminal background check and motor vehicle record check, conducted in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- Applicants must maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the company’s vehicle insurance provider.
- DUI convictions or felony convictions that are relevant to driving, workplace safety, customer-site access, or the responsibilities of this position may result in disqualification following an individualized assessment, as permitted by law.
- Two or more years of experience in equipment installation, industrial plumbing, electrical work, mechanical construction, field service, or a related trade preferred.
- Working knowledge of piping systems, pumps, valves, fittings, and basic electrical controls.
- Ability to use pipe-threading equipment, tubing tools, conduit benders, meters, power tools, and standard hand tools.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a field installation team.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to travel 75% and work occasional overtime or weekends.
- Electrical or plumbing license/certification is preferred.
- Welding, fabrication, controls, or industrial equipment experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds; heavier components are handled with assistance or lifting equipment.
- Bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and industrial-site conditions.
- Wear required personal protective equipment.
- Safely operate power tools and material-handling equipment.
