Food Services Director – School Café
Our client, an established food-service company serving private educational institutions and nonprofit organizations, is seeking a hands-on Food Services Director to manage an in-house café program at a girls’ high school.
This is not a traditional cafeteria. The café offers a simple daily menu—including pizza, fries, soups, salads, snacks and beverages—in a welcoming school environment. This is primarily a back-of-the-house position for someone who can independently manage food preparation, kitchen operations, purchasing, inventory and food safety. The Food Services Director will also interact regularly with students and school staff and must provide friendly, professional service.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve the café’s daily menu.
- Manage food preparation, cooking, portioning and service.
- Order food, beverages, paper goods and other supplies.
- Maintain accurate inventory and monitor product usage.
- Receive deliveries and ensure products are stored properly.
- Maintain a clean, organized and sanitary kitchen, service area and storage space.
- Follow all food-safety, allergy and health department requirements.
- Operate the POS system, handle cash and track daily sales.
- Maintain an organized and efficient workflow during busy service periods.
- Build positive, appropriate relationships with students, faculty and staff.
- Coordinate with school administration and company management as needed.
Qualifications
- At least two years of food-service, kitchen-management and cooking experience.
- Food Handler Certification preferred.
- Knowledge of health department regulations and food-safety practices.
- Strong organizational, inventory-management and multitasking skills.
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of the café operation.
- Able to remain calm, organized and professional during busy periods.
- Dependable, punctual and comfortable working in a school environment.
- Ability to meet all school background-screening requirements.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced food-service professional who enjoys running a small operation, takes pride in maintaining an organized kitchen and values being part of a school community.
