Job Summary
The Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to mothers and newborns during all phases of the birthing process. The RN is responsible for monitoring maternal and fetal status, supporting safe deliveries, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary obstetric team in a high-acuity clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in Labor & Delivery settings
- Monitor maternal and fetal well-being throughout labor and delivery
- Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries as required
- Administer medications and manage IV therapies per protocol
- Respond to obstetric emergencies and high-risk situations
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and anesthesia teams
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care
- Educate patients and families regarding labor and postpartum care
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) Illinois license
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor & Delivery
- BLS AHA
- ACLS AHA
- PALS AHA
- Strong knowledge of fetal monitoring and obstetric care
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment

- Shift Hours: 12-hour day shifts

Work Environment
This is a high-acuity Labor & Delivery unit requiring strong clinical judgment, effective communication, and the ability to manage both routine and complex obstetric cases in a fast-paced hospital setting.
