Status: Full – Time – 34 hours/week (7:00am-4:00pm)
Reports to: Associate Executive Director
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for initial first aid of students and assessment of students;
- Informs parents/guardians of student illnesses and injuries according to First Aid and Emergency Guidelines for School Staff;
- Initiates First Aid and/or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to save lives; uses an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) as indicated;
- Uses other medical equipment as indicated
- Assist in managing all student care plans;
- Activates 9-1-1 to mobilize first responders (police, fire, and/or ambulance) in lifethreatening emergencies;
- Cooperate with school leadership to continuously improve health policies and facilities;
- Assists in administering scheduled and as needed medications (including emergeny medications);
- Support all required student screenings
- Support operational and logistical projects for operations, as required.
- Respond to and resolve routine internal and external inquiries with parents, employees and school organizations;
- Assists with health office infection control practices; maintains cleanliness, supplies, and equipment
- Performs specialized procedures as trained and delegated by the School Nurse;
- Stocks First Aid supplies (band-aids, tongue depressors, etc.); assists in maintaining First Aid kit/supplies, trauma kit, and evacuation cart/system under direction of the School Nurse;
- Prepares, organizes, and maintains accurate health records/reports in electronic reporting system and in appropriate office notebooks according to policies/procedures;
- Maintains confidentiality of student medical records and health information;
- Tracks and reports blood borne pathogen exposure incidents to School Nurse and site administrator;
- Front Office Support and Coverage
- Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education: High School or Equivalent (GED),
Certifications: First Aid/CPR Certification; M.A./CNA
Preferred skills and work experience:
- Demonstrates good judgment; approachable and professional; solid problem solving skills; self-motivated; well organized.
- Strong organizational mission fit and focus.
- Spanish fluency highly preferred.
Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Salary & Benefits
Futuro Academy offers a competitive salary based upon comparable experience level. Compensation will vary based upon range of experience and/or certifications and endorsements allowing a greater range of duties and responsibilities. Compensation ranges between $18-$22 per hour.
