American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a mixed ICU position in Rapid City, SD, requiring a minimum of 1.5–2 years of ICU experience, Epic proficiency, and TNCC certification.

Mixed ICU setting with 39 beds encompassing MICU, SICU, CICU, and TICU
-
Complex patient population including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases — diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multiple system trauma

Heavy trauma patient population

Cardiac experience (CABG/TAVR, 24–48 hrs post-op) is preferred but not required for travelers

Patient ratios are acuity-dependent: 1:1, 1:2, or rarely 1:3
-
12-hour day shifts, 36 hours per week
-
Every other weekend rotation
-
No on-call responsibilities
-
Floating is uncommon but possible to any adult floor including Med/Surg or Tele at a 1:4 ratio when overstaffed

EMR: Epic (required); also uses Alaris pumps (transitioning to Baxter) and Omnicell
-
Active RN license — South Dakota state license or compact license required

Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC (required — must be obtained prior to start)

Minimum 1.5–2 years of ICU-specific experience (excluding travel experience); candidates with 1.5 years ICU experience plus significant non-ICU RN experience may be considered

Epic EMR experience required

Experience with IV medications including vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics
-
Experience with hemodynamic lines, ventilator management, proning, and telemetry
-
Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT strongly preferred
-
Strong critical thinking, assessment skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
-
Must reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility to be eligible for this position

Two professional references dated within the past year required for consideration

DOB and SSN required for consideration

Provide critical care nursing to a diverse, high-acuity ICU patient population including trauma, surgical, cardiac, neuro, and medical cases
-
Unit support includes 1–2 CNAs per unit plus a mobility float aide, 2 charge RNs overseeing all ICUs, a resource nurse (staffing dependent), 24/7 respiratory therapy, and phlebotomy for peripheral blood draws
-
Physicians on staff include 3 intensivists on days, 2 on nights, plus an APP on nights

Orientation consists of one hospital orientation day, one 12-hour shift, and one 8-hour shift in the ICU
-
No RTO during holidays or the Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks of August)

Time off requests of up to 7 days may be approved, but the contract must be extended to accommodate a full 13-week duration

Navy scrubs required
