Position Summary
The CNC Manufacturing Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and optimizing 5-axis Brother CNC machining centers while producing precision-machined components that meet engineering and customer specifications.
This position requires someone who enjoys problem-solving, takes ownership of the machining process, and continuously looks for ways to improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate 5-axis Brother CNC machining centers
- Perform tooling, fixture, and work offset setups
- Load, verify, and make minor CNC program edits
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions
- Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks
- Utilize precision measuring equipment including:
- Micrometers
- Calipers
- Bore gauges
- Indicators
- Monitor part quality and make offset or tooling adjustments as needed
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and quality issues with minimal supervision
- Support new product launches and production ramp-ups
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams
- Perform routine machine maintenance
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Train and mentor CNC Operators as needed
QualificationsRequired
- 2+ years of CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment
- Experience setting up and operating CNC machining centers
- Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
- Working knowledge of G-Code
- Experience making program and tooling adjustments
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and within a team
Preferred
- Experience with Brother CNC machining centers
- 5-axis machining experience
- Automotive manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, SPC, APQP, and PPAP
- Experience with Mastercam
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow
