Bethel Christian Academy (BCA) Job Description Overview
· Teaches Physical Education classes as assigned using curriculum resources in accordance with instructional objectives. Collaborates with colleagues to enhance student learning.
· Responsible for evaluating student performance, communicating with parents, and providing classroom accommodations and differentiation of instruction as possible to meet student needs.
· Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly learning environment for students.
· Responsible for establishing and developing parent relationships to create effective partnerships for the benefit of students.
· Directs competitive sports for BCA. Responsible for fulfillment of league requirements. Recruits coaches and athletes for seasonal sports for boys and girls. Communicates with athletes and parents regarding sports-related information.
· As support staff, is responsible for technical needs for school events. Provides student transportation as needed.
Reports to the Principal and designated campus Administrator.

QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Subject or Related Area
· Unrelated Bachelor’s Degree and/or years of teaching experience will be considered

1. Instructional Area
· Maintain an inventory of all PE and athletic equipment
· Order new equipment as needed with approval of Administrator
· Ensure that all equipment is in good repair
· Leave gym or outside area in order, put away all equipment , and remove trash daily
2. School Activities/Events
· Attend specified events listed in the Faculty Manual unless specifically excused by an Administrator
· Facilitate other sports-related school activities as requested by the Administrator including intramural after-school sports
· Organize and lead the annual Sports Banquet
· Obtain trophies and awards for athletes
· Attend BCA sports events
3. Attendance
· Arrive on time and stay until contracted end time
· Attend daily devotions unless excused by an Administrator
· Contact the designated Administrator if ill and unable to come to work
· Prepare comprehensive lesson plans for the substitute
4. Student Supervision/Oversight
· Greet students for class on time
· Check student compliance with the PE uniform/dress code; notify parents as necessary
· Fulfill assigned supervisory duties during student arrival and dismissal and during lunch and recess periods
· Facilitate student organization through instruction and supervision of materials
· Provide passes to students who must leave the classroom
· Ensure that sick or injured students are taken to the health room safely
· Maintain order and provide appropriate and effective discipline as needed
· Document behavioral incidents as required in the Faculty Manual
· Ensure that students are dismissed from class on time
5. Physical Education Instruction
· Create lesson plans in accordance with instructional objectives and curriculum guides and prepare for lessons in advance of instruction to maximize class time and student learning
· Provide engaging, effective instruction using a variety of strategies, techniques, and resources
· Use valid formative and summative evaluation methods to assess student performance
· Collaborate with colleagues to maximize student learning
· Participate in creating instructional objectives for the development of the BCA Physical Education program
· Maintain inventory of materials
6. Grade Reporting
· Submit required lesson plans on time weekly
· Enter grades in the grade book weekly in accordance with stated requirements
· Submit quarterly curriculum progress reports to the administration
· Enter required information onto quarterly report cards by stated deadline
7. Parent Communication
· Maintain regular, positive communication
· Be available to meet with parents for conferences at the parents’ request
· Provide information and resources to parents regarding concerns
8. Athletic Director Responsibilities
· Attend league meetings
· Ensure all league requirements are met
· Recruit and train coaches
· Schedule sports team try-outs
· Arrange for off-site gym use as needed for practices and games
· Provide transportation for sports teams to off-site practices and games
· Create and maintain up-to-date policies for student athletes
· Monitor student athlete academic status for eligibility; notify coaches, students, and parents of ineligibility as needed
· Obtain and maintain inventory of sports team uniforms
· Order and maintain inventory of athletic equipment
· Facilitate team photos
9. Support Staff Responsibilities
· Provide technical support for school functions and special programs
· Provide student transportation for events as needed
· Maintain Medication Technician (MT) registration
· Provide MT services to students as needed
· Assist with other duties as requested by the Administrator
10. Additional Duties
· Fulfill other duties as needed and directed by the Administrator
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
