Commercial Carpenter – Cabinet Maker & Installer - Healthcare Focus
WS Healthcare Construction | Seattle, WA | Full-Time
$35+/hr DOE | Full Benefits Package + 401(k) with Match
About Us
WS Healthcare Construction exists to deliver exceptional healthcare construction and maintenance so that patients remain safe and comfortable, hospitals keep running, and every person on our crew feels valued, supported, and proud of the work they do.
We work inside active hospitals and medical facilities in the greater Seattle area. The standards are high, the work is skilled, and it matters. We’re a small, tight-knit team of specialists who each bring a core trade to the table — we win as a team or we don’t win at all.
Our job sites are inside hospitals, alongside and in service of people from every walk of life. We expect our team to show up with respect for everyone, full stop — racism, sexism, and anything else that tears people down have no place here. And if you thrive on a tight, collaborative crew that trusts you to run your own scope once you’ve got your work order, you’ll fit right in.
The Role
This is a full-time field position for a skilled commercial carpenter whose specialty is cabinet making and installation — primarily plastic laminate casework in active healthcare facilities. Cabinet and casework scopes are roughly a quarter of the work; the rest of the week you’re contributing as a strong, versatile carpenter across maintenance and tenant improvement scopes. You need to be able to do both.
We don’t manage through fear. We manage by knowing each other’s strengths, covering each other’s weaknesses, and trusting everyone to own their lane. You’ll have real support — from teammates who want you to succeed and a leadership team invested in your growth.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Fabricate and install commercial plastic laminate cabinets and casework to tight tolerances
- Install pre-built cabinetry with precise fit and finish in clinical and administrative spaces
- Modify, repair, and adapt existing casework in occupied healthcare environments
- Select materials, edge banding, and hardware for healthcare-grade durability and cleanability
- Read and interpret shop drawings, elevations, and architectural plans
- Finish carpentry — doors, frames, trim, and blocking — plus drywall patching and finish work
- Flooring, transitions, scaffold work, and general maintenance and tenant improvement scopes as assigned
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who shows up with their game face on — not because they have to, but because they choose to. Someone who owns their work, doesn’t point fingers when things go sideways, and cares about doing it right the first time.
- 5+ years of hands-on commercial cabinet making and installation experience
- Proven experience with plastic laminate casework fabrication and installation
- Strong finish carpentry skills across the board — you take pride in how it looks when you’re done
- Ability to work independently in active hospital environments with minimal supervision
- Comfortable reading plans, shop drawings, and written scopes
- Reliable, professional, and able to represent our company well with hospital staff and patients present
- You ask the question when you’re not sure — the wrong question is the one that didn’t get asked
- Solid surface countertop fabrication and installation (Corian, Wilsonart, or similar) is a major plus — if you can do it, tell us
- Experience in occupied commercial or healthcare buildings is a strong plus
- OSHA 10 preferred (we’ll support obtaining if not current)
The Details
- Schedule: Standard day shift is the norm. But we work in hospitals and 24-hour facilities, so some scopes have to happen nights or weekends around patient care. Shifted hours are part of the job — we give you as much notice as we can.
- Site access & credentialing: Because we work in occupied healthcare facilities, this role requires a background check, a drug screen, I-9 employment eligibility verification, and hospital credentialing (TB test, immunizations, and facility badging). We’ll walk you through the process.
- Tools: You bring your own hand tools. We supply power tools, specialty equipment, and consumables.
- Education: You will be required to learn, study and pass company paid Certifications for ASHE Certified Heathcare Worker, and like Certifications during your 90 day initial probationary period, and on-going, to stay compliant to our Team requirements and to be able to service our elite clients and their facility requirements.
- Getting between sites: Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required. You may move between sites as projects require, but most often you’ll be at a recurring site on a set schedule. Parking and mileage reimbursed when applicable.
- Union status: We are not a union company. We invest in our people through pay, a full benefits package, and 401(k) matching rather than through a hall.
- Physical demands: Regular lifting, standing, ladder and lift work, and maneuvering materials in tight, occupied spaces.
What You’ll Get
- $35+/hr depending on experience — cabinet and solid surface work is exactly the specialty we lean on, and there’s real room above that.
- Full benefits package, including health insurance
- 401(k) with company match
- Paid holidays — the full Christmas-through-New-Year’s stretch (December 25 – January 1) plus standard federal holidays.
- PTO
- A team that has your back, and work that matters — every day you’re helping keep patients safe and comfortable.
