HVAC D2 or S2 Mechanic Job Description:
Superior Skill Trades is currently seeking an HVAC Technician with a D2 or S2 license to maintain trouble shoot, repair and operate commercial HVAC systems for a customers in the South Windsor area.
D2 HVAC Mechanic
- Installing and servicing commercial HVAC systems.
- Diagnosing and repairing furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, and ventilation systems.
- Installing ductwork, piping, thermostats, and HVAC controls.
- Performing preventive maintenance and inspections.
- Ensuring systems comply with local building codes and safety regulations.
- Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues.
S2 HVAC Mechanic
- Install, maintain, and repair commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Work on larger equipment such as rooftop units, chillers, walk-in coolers/freezers, and refrigeration systems.
- Diagnose complex electrical, refrigeration, and control system issues.
- Read blueprints and mechanical drawings.
- Supervise apprentices and coordinate larger installation projects.
- Perform system start-ups, testing, balancing, and commissioning.
Common Responsibilities
- Install HVAC equipment and duct systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair heating and cooling equipment.
- Recover and handle refrigerants in accordance with EPA regulations.
- Perform preventive maintenance.
- Complete service reports and documentation.
- Follow OSHA and company safety procedures.
- Communicate with customers, contractors, and project managers.
Skills Required
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of refrigeration cycles and HVAC controls.
- Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
- Experience using diagnostic tools and hand tools.
- EPA Section 608 Certification (typically required when handling refrigerants).
- Physical ability to lift equipment, work from ladders, rooftops, and in confined spaces.
Requirements for HVAC D2 or S2 Mechanic:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Connecticut D2 or S2 license
- Extensive commercial HVAC systems experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent communication and written skills are a must.
- Attend all safety training provided and/or sponsored by NEMSI
- Follow and comply with the rules and regulations of section 608 of the clean air act and occupational safety regulations mandated by federal, state and local governments.
- Clean driving record required
- Must pass background & drug test.
- Boiler and steam system experience preferred
- Strong troubleshooting, repair, and diagnostic skills
