Role Description: Field Technician – Construction Materials Testing (CMT)

GeoMET is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Field Technician to join our growing team in Addison, Texas. In this role, you will be responsible for performing on-site observations, inspections, testing, and sampling of a variety of construction materials to ensure compliance with project specifications, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.
This position combines active, hands-on field work with technical data collection. You will collaborate with our engineering team, contractors, and project managers to deliver the responsive, precise, and high-quality service that GeoMET clients trust.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct field observations, inspections, testing, and sampling of soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, structural steel, and asphalt placement.
- Perform routine soil density testing to verify compaction specifications (experience with density testing is highly prioritized).
- Accurately document daily field activities, test data, and site observations, preparing clear and comprehensive field reports.
- Ensure all testing and sampling activities adhere to ASTM, AASHTO, and other applicable project standard specifications.
- Operate, clean, and maintain field testing and inspection equipment.
- Communicate test results and field findings clearly.
- Maintain a strong commitment to site safety protocols and company quality assurance guidelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience in construction materials testing, field inspection, or a closely related civil construction environment.
- Certifications: ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I certification is preferred. Candidates with active NICET or ACI certifications will be fast-tracked for an immediate interview.
- Screening: Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check.
- Driving Record: Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record (MVR) in strict accordance with the Company’s driving insurance policy.
Core Competencies:
- Strong attention to detail and reliable observational skills in the field.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for generating field reports and interacting with site personnel.
- Solid time-management skills and the ability to work independently across various field assignments.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Strength: Ability to consistently lift, push, pull, and carry equipment or material samples weighing 30+ pounds.
- Mobility: Capable of safely navigating active construction sites, which includes walking on uneven terrain, climbing, and bending.
- Insured Driver: Capable of being fully insured to operate vehicles to and from job sites.
- Environmental Tolerance: Able and willing to work outdoors in highly variable weather conditions, including extreme Texas heat, humidity, or winter cold.
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
