POSITION OVERVIEW
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is a hands-on hospitality leader responsible for supporting day-to-day store operations while delivering exceptional guest experiences and fostering a high-performing, engaged team.
This role is ideal for an experienced hospitality manager who thrives on the floor, not behind a desk. Approximately 20% of the role is administrative, with 80% spent actively supporting staff, engaging with guests, and leading by example.
The AGM works closely with store managers and the leadership team to oversee a staff of up to 15 employees in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Guest Experience & Service Excellence
- Proactively engage with guests throughout their visit to ensure a seamless, elevated experience
- Address guest concerns and resolve issues promptly and professionally in alignment with Oakwell’s 5‑Star Service Standards
- Act as a visible leader on the floor, setting the tone for hospitality and service quality
Operations Management
- Oversee daily store operations to ensure brand standards, cleanliness, safety, and service excellence are consistently met
- Complete all assigned Daily, Monthly, and Annual Leadership Master Task List items accurately and on time
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and implement process improvements in a lean operating environment
- Coordinate logistics for special events, private parties, and in-store activations
People Leadership & Human Resources
- Lead, coach, and support a team of up to 15 employees, including Beer Therapists and Spakeepers
- Drive employee engagement through recognition programs, team-building initiatives, contests, and development opportunities
- Conduct regular 1-on-1s, skill checks, and performance reviews
- Train and onboard new hires to ensure confidence, competence, and consistency
- Actively coach team members on attendance, professionalism, service standards, and job performance
- Provide on-the-floor coverage for employee call-outs and staffing gaps as needed
Crisis & Issue Management
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational, technical, and equipment-related issues quickly and effectively
- Manage unexpected situations, including guest or employee incidents, technology failures, and severe weather, to minimize disruption and protect the guest experience
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- 3+ years of management experience in a full-service restaurant, day spa, boutique hotel, or similar hospitality concept
- Strong working knowledge of food & beverage operations and alcohol service regulations
- Tech-savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- High emotional intelligence with excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- Highly organized with strong time management and attention to detail
- Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment
- Positive, enthusiastic demeanor with a genuine passion for hospitality and guest service
SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY
- Full-time, exempt position with a minimum expectation of 45 hours per week
- Open availability required, including nights, weekends, holidays, and special events
- Must work at least two closing shifts per week (2:30 PM–11:30 PM)
- Expected to provide on-the-floor coverage during employee call-outs and high-volume periods
