Common Good Atlanta is seeking a strategic, highly organized, and mission-driven Manager, Government Grants and Strategic Partnerships to lead the administration of the organization's federal grants portfolio while helping expand its public-sector funding strategy.
The Manager serves as the primary administrator of Common Good Atlanta's Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) grant, ensuring exceptional stewardship of grant compliance, reporting, partnership coordination, financial accountability, and program performance. The position oversees implementation of the grant across multiple university, nonprofit, faith-based, and government partners while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal requirements.
In addition to managing the organization's existing federal grant, this position supports Common Good Atlanta's long-term sustainability by identifying and researching new government funding opportunities at the federal, state, and local levels. Working closely with the Executive Director, Director of Operations, external grant consultants, and organizational partners, the Manager will help build and maintain a pipeline of public funding opportunities aligned with the organization's mission and strategic priorities. Essential Responsibilities
Federal Grant Administration and Compliance
- Serve as the primary administrator for Common Good Atlanta's federal grant portfolio.
- Ensure full compliance with all grant requirements, including federal regulations, reporting deadlines, and performance measures.
- Monitor grant implementation against approved goals, objectives, timelines, and deliverables.
- Prepare and submit required narrative and programmatic reports.
- Coordinate with the Director of Operations to ensure programmatic and financial reporting remain aligned.
- Maintain complete and audit-ready grant files and supporting documentation.
- Track grant expenditures in partnership with Finance.
- Coordinate grant monitoring activities, audits, and compliance reviews.
- Recommend grant modifications when appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal regulations, including Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200), Department of Justice, and Office of Justice Programs requirements.
Strategic Partnership Management
- Serve as the primary liaison between Common Good Atlanta and all grant-funded partners and subrecipients.
- Coordinate and facilitate monthly partner meetings.
- Conduct regular meetings with partner leadership to monitor performance and progress.
- Provide technical assistance and support to partner organizations.
- Monitor fulfillment of contractual obligations and grant deliverables.
- Strengthen collaboration among university, nonprofit, faith-based, correctional, workforce, and community partners.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with correctional leadership, higher education institutions, community organizations, and workforce development partners.
- Identify and resolve implementation challenges while fostering strong cross-sector collaboration.
Grant Performance, Data Management and Evaluation
- Coordinate data collection across partner organizations.
- Monitor grant performance measures and participant outcomes.
- Ensure timely collection and submission of required program data.
- Maintain data quality, accuracy, and integrity.
- Support Salesforce or other grant management systems used to track participant outcomes.
- Prepare executive dashboards and performance reports.
- Identify trends, opportunities, and risks through ongoing analysis of grant performance.
- Ensure compliance with all confidentiality and data privacy requirements.
Government Grants Development and Funding Strategy
- Develop and maintain an annual government funding calendar.
- Identify, research, and evaluate new federal, state, and local funding opportunities.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of prospective government grants aligned with Common Good Atlanta's strategic priorities.
- Collaborate with leadership and external consultants to assess organizational readiness for funding opportunities.
- Support preparation of competitive grant applications, budgets, narratives, and supporting documentation.
- Develop relationships with government agencies, program officers, and funding partners.
- Participate in technical assistance webinars, funding briefings, and grant information sessions.
- Track legislative appropriations, earmark opportunities, and emerging public-sector funding initiatives.
- Recommend strategies that diversify organizational revenue and strengthen long-term financial sustainability.
Strategic Strategic Initiatives
- Support the Executive Director in developing long-term government funding strategies.
- Identify opportunities to expand public-sector partnerships.
- Represent Common Good Atlanta at meetings, conferences, and partner convenings.
- Support organizational strategic planning related to government funding and partnerships.
- Perform other duties as assigned that support the organization's mission and strategic priorities.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Nonprofit Management, Criminal Justice,
Higher Education, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience managing federal grants.
- Demonstrated experience administering government-funded programs.
- Experience coordinating multiple partners and stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of federal grant regulations and compliance requirements.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Five or more years of experience managing federal grants.
- Experience with Department of Justice or Bureau of Justice Assistance grants.
- Experience in criminal justice, higher education, workforce development, or reentry services.
- Experience developing competitive government grant proposals.
- Experience using Salesforce or other grants management software.
- Knowledge of correctional education and prison education programs.
