Job Summary
Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Mental Health Nurse, where you will play a vital role in providing compassionate, comprehensive mental health care to diverse patient populations. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans as they pertain to the overall medical health of the individual, while ensuring their optimal recovery and well-being. This dynamic position offers opportunities to work across various settings, including in our outpatient clinic, and other community-based programs. Your expertise will help empower patients on their journey toward mental wellness while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional care.
Duties
- Conduct thorough nurses health assessments and develop personalized care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Encourage the appropriate administration of medications and treatments, including psychotropic drugs, with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
- Monitor patient progress through regular evaluations, documenting clinical observations and responses to interventions.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques during acute episodes or emergencies.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, Psychiatric Rehabilitation Coordinators and family members to embrace holistic care strategies.
- Educate patients and their families about the importance of physical health conditions, treatment options, and coping mechanisms while dealing with Mental health.
- Maintain accurate medical records using our electronic health record (EHR) systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- No on-calls
- No evening/late night shifts. Work hours are 9am to 4:30pm
Qualifications
- Valid nursing license (RN) with current registration in good standing; additional certification in psychiatric or mental health nursing are a Plus..
- Proven experience working in behavioral health settings such as inpatient psychiatric units, outpatient clinics, or community mental health programs.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for documentation and patient management.
- Knowledge of mental health disorders including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and dual diagnosis care.
- Ability to handle complex cases involving medicine non compliance, substance abuse history, and working with current clients on monitoring their physical health.
- Strong assessment skills with the ability to perform physical examinations when necessary; experience in crisis triage is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration; proficiency in medical terminology is essential. Pay: $33.54 - $39.64 per hour
