Overview
The Produce Lead plays a vital role in ensuring the freshness and quality of produce within our grocery store. This position is responsible for overseeing the produce department, managing inventory, and leading a team to provide excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in produce handling, retail operations, and effective communication skills to foster a positive shopping experience for our customers.
Duties
- Supervise and train produce department staff to ensure high standards of quality and customer service.
- Manage inventory control by monitoring stock levels, placing orders, and ensuring timely delivery of fresh produce.
- Load and unload deliveries while adhering to safety protocols and proper handling techniques.
- Conduct regular inspections of produce displays to maintain freshness and presentation.
- Utilize retail math skills to analyze sales trends and adjust inventory accordingly.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding product availability, promotions, and customer feedback.
- Assist customers with inquiries about produce selection, preparation, and storage.
- Perform heavy lifting as required to stock shelves and maintain a well-organized department.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a grocery store or retail environment, specifically in the produce department.
- Strong knowledge of produce handling practices and inventory control techniques.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) as part of daily responsibilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Familiarity with retail math concepts for effective inventory management and sales analysis.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining product displays.
- A positive attitude with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
