This is a secretarial job at a law office, part-time. Duties are answer the phone and taking messages, writing checks and balancing checking accounts, searching for and entering client data into a computer, scanning, electronic and paper filing, keeping the calendar for meetings and upcoming court dates and deadlines, word processing and typing, and preparing documents by filling in forms, calling courts and clients to coordinate projects.
Expectations are: being familiar with office type programs such as word processing, e-mail and in particular being able to download and make attachments to e-mail, being good at general arithmetic. In regards to English, good grammar, vocabulary, orthography, diction, and good cursive penmanship.
Communications at the office deal frequently deal with the elderly and people with various disabilities.
The office uses Macintosh computers and the basic Apple programs that come with the computer as well as Filemaker and software written by the lawyer.
Experience in the law is not necessary, if you have a good basis of office procedures, good English, can manage your time well, are an extrovert, and have a sense humor, you can learn the rest on-the-job.
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
